I really don’t know what to say I need to learn how to read the Bible and understand it better than I do and I want to learn scriptures to apply when needed in my life, or with telling anybody about the goodness of the Lord

I am so frustrated and cry out to God, "what do you want from me!" Job opportunities, new beginnings and relationships fall by the wayside, I just don't understand. Finding God's Rest or peace that is beyond all understanding is difficult in my current circumstances. I am hard headed for sure probably from adverse childhood experiences but perseverence is an outcome of those experiences that helps me to continue moving forward and pursuing Him and His purpose. Refocus and new priorities and ways of thinking have helped me and Haggai, Ezra, Nehemiah offer re-occuring messages. I know he doesn't give up on me so I will not give up on Him! He knows me heart!

I am reading this and trying to encourage my heart to not give up on serving the LORD with all my heart and all my strength. I have to say, it is difficult to serve others when your heart is grieving. There moments that are so heavy, it's easy to often feel discouraged. I've been feeling so overextended and defeated since October. The Exile BSF study to speak directly to my heart and has been steadily providing exactly what I've needed to hear every week since November. There is one specific word that the Lord gave me almost 20 years ago and because I have not seen it come to pass, I have become discouraged and I think gone to do my own thing! While her devotional on Haggai is quite good her last paragraph raises a valuable and pertinent question. "what will be said of the Church? Of God’s people?" Like Ann and her brother Franklin and the apostate church in America who support an immoral leader who exhibits the antithesis of all Jesus stood for and has asked us to follow. Perhaps BSF should be cautious as they vet those who speak for BSF and for an abominable leader at the same time.

Amen! My personnel comments to a lesson question was just this. Most days, I will give priority to all the things that I need or want to do. I give the Lord my time first thing in the morning, but give very little later. And to think, He is always with me !!

Life can be heavy and feel burdensome with responsibilities at work, the home and as a BSF substitute teaching leader. All are worthy of being performed with excellence to glorify Him, but sometimes my 'humanness' cries for a break. I too need to remember the message of Haggai - to finish the work God has placed before me to His glory. Anne's insight is on target and needs to be remembered by all who labor in His fields.

Excellent Article! My mother passed away12/.26/25. I have been feeling sad and joyfull. Sad that I don’t have her anymore, and happy for the memories and teaching me the love of God and neighbor. The article reminds me "to put God first" I know in my soul, putting God first will bring me peace from this pain.

My discouragement often comes from my own church. I have learned to rise about the division and pursue God and all He that He wants me to do as far as serving Him. I don't understand why ministries within the church struggle to work together as ONE to glorify God as we fulfill the Great Commission. I have learned to keep moving forward, but it definitely has taken resolve to do so. I have found such great comfort in the study of Haggai this year through BSF.
